First Week

I had the call at the age of 16.  That was 8 years ago and I thought this week would never come, and now it is here.  This is my first week that I begin to serve the job that I will serve for the rest of my life.  It sounds a bit scary I suppose, or maybe exciting?  Perhaps a bit of both.

My first pastorate is in the towns of Grand Mound and Calamus, Iowa.  Both are great towns with great people.  In fact I don't think I could have asked for a better placement.  The parsonage is huge and nice.

I had a year of training and so I don't feel as if I am going in blind but I have no idea what being a pastor of two churches entails.  What scares me the most are meetings, scandals and those resistant to the nudging of God.  Whatever that means I suppose; I am sure that I will find more things to be frightened of throughout my years of ministry.

I don't suppose I know much of anything as of right now when it comes to being a leader within the church.  I trust in God.  I have faith in the journey that God has laid out before me.
